Records go back to 1937. In 1954, by resolution of Senate the name of the Department of Geology was changed to the Department of Geology and Geophysics. In 1998 the Department of Geology and Geophysics was combined with the Department of Geography to form the School of Geosciences. In 2018 the school had a strong focus on the 'Three GEOs...the disciplines in geoscience forming a broad spectrum of knowledge about the Earth'.
