Chairman's Correspondence [Guild Teachers College Council] (Series 586)

This series contains correspondence between 1979 to 1986 between the Council Chairman, Professor RT Dunlop and various other parties. There are three sections to the series, which are as follows:

1) Material concerning the amalgamation of the College with the Sydney College of Advanced Education. It includes material which was created in the course of the College's response to the Butland Committee Report (1977) and the ultimate decision to join the proposed SCAE. 

2) Correspondence with Education Ministers concerning amalgamation. It reflects the College's adverse response and subsequent campaign against the recommendations of the Butland Committee's Report.

3) Material concerning the winding up of the Guild Teachers College Limited as a registered company. It contains details of statutory requirements involved in the liquidation of the company structure following the amalgamation with the SCAE. Although the Council was disbanded after the 1982 amalgamation, the series contains subsequent material, the last of which is dated 16 April 1986.
