Executive Committee of Council [Cumberland College of Health Sciences (CCHS) Council]

After the establishment of the New South Wales College of Paramedical Studies as a Corporate College on 1 October 1974, the new Corporate Council of the held its first meeting on 8 October 1974. At this meeting Council resolved to adopt the proposals of the College administration and the proposed terms of reference for the various Council Committees be as set out in the document prepared for the meeting. These proposals were to be covered in by-laws, the drafting of which were to be deferred until the College had been in operation for 6 month. The constitution of the Committees was also defined at that meeting.The Executive Committee acted on behalf of Council; reported to Council and presented recommendations for its approval on issues referred to it by the Council or on other matters as they arose.The terms of reference for the Committee were:(1) There shall be an Executive Committee of the Council the membership of which shall consist of the Chairman of each of the Committees of Council and such other members as shall be determined by Council.(2) The Executive Committee shall be, when the urgency of any matter so demands, the executive agent of the Council and shall act and determine on its behalf all maters of an urgent nature that cannot await the next regular meeting of the Council.(3) A report of the proceedings of the Executive Committee of Council shall be circulated to members of the Council with the notice or supplementary notice of matters to be considered at the meeting of Council next following that of the Executive Committee and shall be laid upon the table of Council at that meeting.
