Faculty of Pharmacy Dean's Advisory Committee (DAC) was formed in July 2000 at the Inaugural Faculty of Pharmacy Meeting.
Administrative structure: DAC reported directly to the Dean.
Membership: Dean (originally Prof S I Benrimoj), Pro-Dean, Associate Deans, Faculty Manager.
Function: "Advise Dean on management and operational issues, provide a forum where ideas/issues may be brought in expectation of positive reception and quick response" , "to encourage innovation." The DAC was not a decision making committee, but seemed to be a formal discussion forum for the faculty leadership. [See Administrative Structure diagram found in Series 1273 Box 2 Faculty Meet 21 July 00, and Minutes of Previous meeting, Dean's Report in Series 1273 Box 2 Faculty Meet 8 Sep 00]
No further record of Pharmacy DAC has been found past November 2005. Parallel DACs operated in other faculties, such as Science and Nursing. However by 2011 the Faculty had formed the Faculty of Pharmacy Senior Executive Group (PharmacySEG) to pursue better communication and transparency of management. The group was accountable to the dean and met monthly. It was responsible for quarterly review of the Faculty’s achievements against the objectives and goals outlined in the Faculty’s strategic plan; annual review of the Faculty’s research themes including recommendations about emerging research areas to pursue; draft and comment on papers on research, education and professional matters; and leadership on Faculty strategy and policy.
