The Centre for Disability Research and Policy (CDRP) was officially established for a period of 5 years from March 2012 to March 2017 (approved by Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Stephen Garton, 22 March 2012, DOC2012/165996). The University Executive Officer for the Centre was Professor Archie Johnston, Dean Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies. The Centre was to undergo a Self-Examination after 2 years and a more comprehensive review after a period of 5 years. After the Self Evaluation the Centre received approval for continuation for the remainder of the 5 years and the transfer of the University Officers (Centres) role from the Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies to the Dean of Faculty of Health Sciences, Professor Kathy Refshauge. The Centre brings together a network of researchers with expertise in disability to work collaboratively. In 2017 the Centre operated under the following research streams:
