Consulting Organisation of the Sydney College of the Arts (COSCA) Management Committee

The Consulting Organisation of the Sydney College of the Arts (COSCA) was established as a controlled entity by the Sydney College of the Arts. COSCA was incorporated as a company limited by guarantee on 27 October 1981. It was intended that COSCA would offer services to the commercial, industrial and retail industries in Australia with the services provided by students attending the College and also lecturers employed by it. It was the aim of the College to involve students as far as possible in working on actual projects which had been ordered by business or government or community organisations to give students the benefit of the experience which exposure to practical projects offers. In addition it was envisaged that the Company might act as an outlet for the sale by students and staff of the items made by them during the course of their instruction. Such items included pottery, sculpture, fashion and textile design.

At the Directors' meeting held on 23 June 1982 the following were invited to form a Management Committee pending the appointment of a General Manager: John Bailey, Barry Davis, Carl Nielsen, Kent Smith and Greg Weakley.

The Management Committee of the company met for the first time on 23 June 1982. At that meeting Mr Carl Nielsen was appointed Chairman.

The company was deregistered on 1 December 1989.
