Consulting Organisation of Sydney College of the Arts Limited (COSCA)

The Consulting Organisation of Sydney College of the Arts was established by the Sydney College of the Arts as a subsidiary company to offer services to the commercial, industrial and retail industries in Australia, these services to be provided by students attending the college and also lecturers employed by it. It was the aim of the college to involve students as far as possible, in working on actual projects which had been ordered by business or government or community organisations to give the students the benefit of the experience which exposure to practical work offers. In addition the company could act as an outlet for items made by students during the course of their instruction such as pottery, sculpture, fashion and textile design.

The company was incorporated on 27 October 1981 and was to operate from the Glebe campus in the first instance. At the Directors' meeting held on 25 May 1982 it was decided to form a Management Committee which met for the first time on 23 June 1982. Mr Carl Nielsen was appointed Chairman.

The company was deregistered on 1/12/1989 prior to amalgamation of the College with the University of Sydney.
