Executive Committee [Sydney College of the Arts Council]

The Executive Committee of Council was established by Council in 1980. The Committee did not meet regularly, it met from time to time to determine certain matters which required urgent attention which were subsequently submitted to Council for ratification. It was not the role of the Council Executive to make deliberate decisions on any matter of principle or policy.

On occasions when a Council decision was necessary in a formal way about matters which were mostly procedural and simply progressing legal requirements the Executive met as required to fulfil that role. Another role of Council was to act as a 'sounding board' for the principal in cases where he wanted to discuss matters in an open ended way in order to gain the benefit of opinions of members of Council.
