Council [Sydney College of the Arts (SCA)]

The Sydney College of the Arts was established initially within the Ministry of Education under Section 5 of the Colleges of Advanced Education Act, 1975, No. 11.

On 20th January 1978 the Minister for Education gazetted (1) the corporation of the College with the corporate name Sydney College of the Arts such constitution to take effect on the 8th February 1978 and (2) appointed the the members of the First Council of the corporate college established under (1). The members of the first council were to held office for the period commencing 8th February, 1978, and ending 7th February, 1980. As college principal Mr John Bailey became became a notionally 'official' member of the Council.

With its corporation the College the responsibility for its own operations and staff moved from the Department to the College.
