Staff Association [New South Wales State Conservatorium of Music]

A staff association was not formed at the Conservatorium until 1967. This was because "musicians were individualists and objected to industrial association (Staff Association meeting 2/8/1967). There was no united front between the teachers in their demands of improvement in working conditions and that "proposals from teachers followed a considerable course of amendment before being ratified. There was no direct avenue of communication to influential sources. (Staff Association meeting 2/8/1967)

A provisional committee was appointed to form a staff association in 1967 and to prepare a memorandum of proposals.
