Staff and Personnel Committee [Sydney College of Advanced Education (SCAE) Council]

The Staff and Personnel Committee advised Council on policy matters affecting staff and personnel including conditions of service, the selection, appointment and termination of staff, the introduction of new classifications for academic and administrative staff and the termination of existing classifications.

The Committee undertook appropriate consultation within the College and assisted the Principal and Secretary in the resolution of problems related to staff matters. Servants of the College were able to make submissions to the Committee. The Committee also received regular listings of all appointments, resignations and promotions, and reports on leave taken by staff and secondment of staff to other institutions. The Committee was informed of Professional Experience leave approved by the Principal who was required to demonstrate that the absence of a staff member would impair the teaching or research activities of the Institute.

As with the other committees this Committee reported regularly to Council. In addition the Committee was required to inform the Finance and Property Committee of any advice or recommendation it intended to make which would have a significant effect on the College budget.
