Correspondence between HR Carne and JB Chifley, Prime Minister, regarding Carne's urging for medical research in the Pacific Islands to address public health concerns following WW2 (19/12/1945-26/02/1946). Includes two copies of a memorandum and one document stating Carnes' case.

Draft letter to the Trustees of the Nuffield Foundation proposing "five Nuffield Travelling Scholarships per annum for Australia in the biological and physical science other than the medical science"

Correspondence between Elkin, H Alcock, OU Vonwiller, JB Cleland, and JR Halligan regarding the ANRC's belief in the need for anthropological research in New Guinea (25/09/1945-11/10/1945). Includes report on "the arrangements that have been made in the past for anthropological research", "the changed conditions in regard to finance which must now be faced" and "reasons for financial support by the Government for anthropological research".

Group 4b, 28 pp.:
Handwritten notes and annotated drafts. Drafts include three-year plans for research in Australia and New Guinea, respectively, and a report on current and future anthropological research. The paper in this bundle has been reused, and so has various content on the reverse.

Includes three-year plans for anthropological work in Australia and Papua New Guinea.

Letter from HR Carne to the Prime Minister regarding recommendations of the ANRC for anthropological research (03/12/1945)

- Correspondence between AP Elkin and JA Carrodus, Secretary of the Department of the Interior, following up on a plan of anthropological work sent to the Prime minister (see above).
- Letter from HR Carne to AP Elkin regarding requesting a report on the works of the Committee on Development of Northern Australia, New Guinea, and Other Australian Dependencies (11/10/1948).
- Letter from EL Saycqe to HR Carne (cc. Elkin) requesting a follow-up on the request to the Prime Minister (10/11/1948).

- Handwritten names and addresses, likely also of subscribers.
- Short notes on bullroarers and genealogy, most of which are crossed out.
The notes in this bundle are written on reused paper from a printed text, with the page header 'Tabar Today'.
