Records Relating to War Service [Tannatt William Edgeworth (TWE) David] (Series 1489)

There is only one letter dated earlier than 1914. About half of the series is correspondence related to TWE David's service in the Great War of 1914-1918 (date range of records: 1916 to 1934). The series includes a 24-page unsigned manuscript on the Australian Tunnelling Company. It is assumed that this is the script for a speech given at the annual reunion of the Old Comrades Association in 1934 at which speeches were made by Australia's official War Historian CEW Bean, the secretary of the Old Comrades Association J MacD. Royle, General Harvey and David. The correspondence received from the Old Comrades Association in this series includes Harvey's address (a 2-page typescript). The manuscript of David's speech is in Series 1492. A few letters are from relations of David; these have been arranged separately.
