Addresses [Tannatt William Edgeworth (TWE) David] (Series 1474)

This series contains papers that are mostly manuscript or annotated typescript in TWE David's hand; they mainly document addresses given by David to bodies of scientists. The papers have been arranged in boxes of acid-free board as follows:

- Item 1: First Clarke Memorial Lecture, 1903, on the life and work of Clarke and NSW geology since Clarke's death.

- Item 2 : Address to London Geological Society 1904: "Continental Elevation and Subsidence"; address given at the opening ceremony for the Australian Museum Sydney in 1910; tentatively identified as an address given in 1921 at Centenary Celebrations of Royal Society of NSW - subject: biographies of Australian geologists; paper by David and JB Guthrie "The Flood Silts of the Hunter and Hawkesbury Rivers" read to the NSW Royal Society 1904.

- Item 3: MS notes apparently for presidential address to the NSW Royal Society 1911.

- Item 4: Manuscript/typescript for Presidential address to the Australasian Association for Advancement of Science, Melbourne 1913. See also Series 1486.

- Item 5: Undated manuscripts for speeches at the unveiling of a commemorative tablet at Jenolan Caves (possibly in 1929), and at an occasion celebrating the visit of representatives of Spain to Australia; annotated typescripts of paper in French read by David at the International Geological Congress in 1906 in Mexico; and, notes prepared for President's address to Royal Society in 1913.

- Item 6: Draft, for publication, of inaugural RM Johnston Memorial Lecture read by David to the Royal Society of Tasmania Oct 1923; the draft, paginated 1-59 consists of typescript with extensive annotations; its title: "Geological Evidence of the Antiquity of Man in the Commonwealth with special reference to the Tasmanian Aborigines"; See Series 1467, Items 15-17 for related papers.

- Item 7: Miscellaneous papers dated 1895-1913.
