Notebooks of Isabel Houison [Tannatt William Edgeworth (TWE) David] (Series 1473)

Isabel Houison was assistant secretary of the Australian National Research Council (ANRC). This series contains 12 notebooks; one volume, Item 1, apparently compiled in 1920; four volumes, Items 2 to 5, 1923; and seven volumes, Items 6 to 12), 1924. The majority of the notes are written in shorthand with the occasional word in longhand. However, there are pages of notes in longhand. Some of the shorthand appears to have a longhand translation superimposed. The notes include drafts of letters and chapters of a book, possibly TWE David's treatise on the Geology of Australia. At least one volume (Item 4) contains annotated sketches in David's hand. Notes on the covers of volumes often provide a guide to the contents e.g., Item 1 is annotated on the cover, "I. Houison Letters July 1920".
