[Following the 1946-1949 pastoral strike by Aboriginal men in the Pilbara, the strikers formed a community which sought economic and social independence from the pastoralists. Following the failure of the first venture, the Pindan Group established the Pindan Camps at Port Hedland and Kadyereenya. Run by the Pindan Pty Group, an all Aboriginal shareholding, the camps housed a large number of workers and their families including the elderly.]

This draft report by Jessie MG Street, who was a prominent feminist and human rights activist all her adult life had, in 1956, returned from London at the request of the British Anti-Slavery Society to report on the conditions of Aboriginal Australians. Set out in the report are issues associated with the Aboriginal peoples at the Pindan Co-Operative Camps situated at Two Mile Camp, Port Hedland, Condon Camp, Kadyereenya, Teasler. The issues include housing,working conditions, pay, food supplies.
