When the records of the Department group were originally accessioned, they were arranged by item. The series system was superimposed later. Item 3 from the original item list form this series.

The regulations of the Museum of Normal and Morbid Anatomy were first published in the University Calendar 1889. They provided for the establishment of the Museum for the benefit of the medical departments of the University.
