Photographs [Department of Psychology Museum] (Series 781)

This series consist of 73 photographs taken on various occasions. The photographs were received from the Department of Psychology Museum, which had a listing of items starting with letter “P”. The item descriptions in this series are copied from the item list compiled by the Museum. The photographs consist of the following:

- Professor H Tasman Lovell, who was the first Professor of Psychology in the Department at the University from 1929. The collection of photographs consists of official photos and photos taken with his family.

- Professor William Matthew O'Neil, who succeeded Lovell to become the second Professor of Psychology. He played a major role in the establishment of the Australian Psychological Society and made Australian psychology much more visible on the international stage. The photographs include official photos taken on the occasion of his retirement and personal photos with his family taken on various occasions.

- Professor Richard Annells Champion, who became the first chairman of the newly independent Australian Psychology Society in the year 1965. This includes photos of his second and third laboratories.

- Some of the photographs are taken during the meeting of the International Union of Psychological Science (IUPS) Executive Committee in Berlin, Washington and Tokyo.

- One packet of photographs pertaining to psychological research, and, an oversize group photograph of a University of Sydney graduation including HT Lovell.
