Papers Relating to the University Extension Board [Ernest Rudolph (ER) Holme] (Series 1079)

The University had introduced extension lectures in late 1886, in an effort to encourage broader participation in university study. In 1892, the management of these lectures passed from Senate to the new University Extension Board. Holme was Secretary to the Board from 1906 until 1911, and remained on the Board as a member of the teaching staff until 1942.

This series comprises papers of both deposits of the Holme papers and consists of advertising flyers for the extension lectures, lists of lectures to be given, information on extension courses at other universities and correspondence relating to the arrangement of lectures and courses with participating organisations or localities as well as participating lecturers. The correspondence in a large folder entitled ‘Correspondence 1907-1908' has been split into three parts.
