Register of Kindergarten and Infants Teachers Extension Course Examinations [Sydney Teachers College (STC) Registrar] (Series 458)

A single bound volume recording the names (in alphabetical order) and results obtained by teachers undertaking the evening extension course. There are separate manuscript sheets included in the volume, which note addresses and schools for some students.

The extension courses were introduced in 1910 as a form of additional training for teachers already working. The extension course ran in the evenings for three terms of ten weeks each.

In 1912, an Advanced Kindergarten Extension Course of 60 lectures was offered as well as the Ordinary Course. In 1913, the course became known as the First Year and Second Year courses, respectively. The extension courses appear to have ceased in 1924. The usual students of the Sydney Teachers College (STC), if they wished to qualify to work in infant schools or kindergartens, could take a course as part of their second year of training.
