The series contains letters received in the main, although there are some copies of letters sent. See also Series 388 for more letters. There are memoranda between the Chancellor and the two Registrars concerned, Kennedy and Barff. Much of the content is to do with the raising of funds, and the tenders and specifications of the organ. The Committee had completed most of its work by late 1882, and in the later years there is much relating to recitals on the organ. Also includes an undated manufacturers' publicity brochure.
