Originally just called Student Administration the agency was part of the Registrar's Division. In 1992 it consisted of the three Divisions Examinations, Exclusions and the Student Centre, looking after timetabling; coordination and conducting examinations; answering enquiries regarding the University its policy and procedures; coordinate the enrolment of students; distribute and sell University publications; arrange and coordinate Senate appeals and student disciplinary hearing - especially relating to academic exclusions; process 'show cause' cases.
In the 2000 Calendar Student Administration Services and the Student Centre are both listed as part of the Registrar's Division.
By 2016, named Sydney Student, it was the University’s student administration system and spanning the entire student lifecycle from course applications, course details, enrolment, fees, results management and progression, right through to awards and graduation.
Sydney Student had two ‘faces’.
A front-facing web-based portal, also known as eVision, used by students and staff to carry out administrative tasks.
A back-end application known as the Sydney Student SITS Client used by staff who require access specific data and/or carry out specific administrative tasks.
