Following a restructure within the Faculty of Architecture the former departments of the Faculty were replaced by a single School effective 1 January 2002. [see Senate Res 134/02 re constitution of the faculty following the Academic Board Report of 13/3/2002]. The Department of Architecture, Planning and Allied Arts was merged with Architectural and Design Science to form the School of Architecture, Design Science and Planning. The first meeting of the School took place on 21 February 2002.
For the first three meetings the School was known as 'The School in Architecture' and staff were asked to propose a name for it. The agenda for 18 September 2002 is the first document containing the new name of the school - School of Architecture, Design Science and Planning. (File 2002/3464). In 2005 the position of Head of School of Architecture, Design Science and Planning is noted in the University Calendar as TBA, whereas the 2006 Calendars states there were no schools under Architecture. On 4 December 2006 Senate renamed the Faculty of Architecture as the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Planning. [Resolution 373/06]
