Reporting and Analytics Committee (RAC)
As a committee of the University Executive the Reporting and Analytics Committee (UE RAC) was to provide governance and oversight for University reporting and analytics initiatives. Specifically the committee was to provide leadership and guidance on the direction of reporting and analytics initiatives aligned to the University’s strategic goals, support and drive the effective use of data for more informed decisions, identify and manage strategic data assets and drive data governance activities to improve data accessibility and quality.
In 2018 the Chair was the Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor and its terms of reference were:
The purpose of the UE RAC is to:
1. provide leadership, oversight and guidance on the overall direction or reporting and analytics initiatives by ensuring initiatives are effectively aligned and connected to the University’s strategic goals
2. champion reporting and analytics initiatives throughout the University and assist in managing and engaging key stakeholders
3. assist in identifying priorities and monitor progress on program and project implementation with respect to the Enterprise Reporting and Analytics Strategy and to support the successful, effective and efficient delivery of the strategy
4. provide advice and approve business cases developed as part of the Enterprise Reporting and Analytics Strategy aligned to the University budget process
5. identify and monitor potential risks related to reporting and analytics initiatives from a whole of university perspective and provide advice on appropriate mitigation actions
6. provide advice on the management and resolution of issues as they arise, including those relating to the development and implementation of key initiatives, solutions, sensitivity, security and new innovations
7. support and drive the effective use of data for more informed decisions and manage strategic data assets through liberating data
8. provide quality assurance support advice and recommendations on quality assurance activities including, data governance, data quality and identification of strategic data assets
9. report to UE on the development and implementation of the RAC and its progress against its agreed strategy and business cases.
10. oversee management of risk within the RAC’s portfolio to ensure risks are managed within the University’s agreed appetite and tolerance levels, and escalate to the University Executive those risks that are outside of the Committee’s remit to resolve.
