The Vice-Chancellor established the Quality Advisory and Coordination Committee (QACG) in part to ready the University for its eventual review by the Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA). Its Terms of Reference were:
To further develop the University of Sydney's quality assurance and improvement strategy and oversee its implementation.
To propagate the idea of quality as a core value that is integrated with the principal research, teaching and administrative activities of the University.
To monitor and evaluate the impact of the University's approach to quality assurance on its operations.
To advise the Vice-Chancellor on appropriate academic and management structures to implement the quality assurance strategy.
To liaise with senior operational portfolios and the Academic Board to ensure a coherent and coordinated approach to quality across the University.
To advise the Vice-Chancellor on appropriate structures and processes for liaison with external agencies, including AUQA, and other research-intensive universities nationally and internationally, for the purposes of quality assurance and improvement.
The Committee reported regularly to VCAC, highlighting action that needed to be taken.
