Marketing and Communications
Marketing and Communications communicates the work that the University does and what it believes in through the University brand. The University brand is the achievements, values and beliefs of the University.
Marketing and Communications were within the Vice Chancellor's portfolio, from 2009 under the Deputy Vice Chancellor (External Relations) until February 2017 when it came under the portfolio of the Vice Principal (External Engagement). (Previously known as External Relations but name changed 2023.) Marketing and Communications work closely with the University's Media and Public Relations team.
There are 5 areas of Marketing and Communications:
- Brand and Digital Engagement which leads the development and delivery of University marketing brand and content strategies, digital performance and technical optimisation, and creative solutions to support marketing and communications strategic initiatives. Working in three teams to ensure quality branding, content and digital experience: Creative Studio - Producing marketing and communications materials that form the backbone of faculty and University-wide activities across print, digital and multimedia channels; Brand and Content - As the University's brand experts, this team provides University branded templates for marketing and communications strategic priorities, and a range of customised resources for communicating to your target audiences effectively. They manage the University’s corporate website and central social media accounts; Digital Team - Drives the University’s web content strategy, and providing leadership and training in website personalisation and optimisation.
- Faculty and Student Marketing and Communications: Dedicated teams partner with faculty and school colleagues to co-create effective marketing and communications activities, in support of faculty goals, aligned with University priorities. The Student Marketing team partners with Global Student Recruitment and Mobility and other portfolios to produce undergraduate, postgraduate and international whole-of-university event promotion, publications and campaigns.
- Internal Communications: provides strategic communications advice and services to support internal comms to staff
- Student Communications: responsible for developing and delivering strategic communications to current students via Univewrity wide channels.
- University Marketing and Events: oversees University-wide marketing initiatives and sponsorships, including our public events program including Sydney Ideas. Also partners with key multidisciplinary research centres and University portfolios and divisions to help them achieve their marketing goals. Also manage the University's online corporate profile on the University website.
