The establishment and the Constitution of the Foundation was approved by Senate on 1 December 1986. the Foundation was to support the work of the Deer Research Unit at Camden, drawing on the deer industry.
Industry support did not eventuate due to problems within the industry and differences in research interests between the University and the industry.
No formal meeting of the Foundation was convened. It was the view of the Director of the Deer Research Unit and the Head of the Department of Animal Health that the Foundation be wound up, and the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Science agreed.
Senate resolved on 7 September 1992 to disestablish the Deer Research Unit and repeal the Constitution of the Foundation.
