The purpose of the Operations Committee is to provide governance and oversight for the Operations Reform Program and its component projects and initiatives, and serve as an escalation point for critical BAU Operations' issues, and for critical risks within the Professional Service Units (PSUs).
The key day-to-day decision making responsibilities are delegated to the Executive Owners (and their teams).
The Operations Committee will:
In relation to PSU business-as-usual:
- Serve as an escalation point for operational risks within the PSUs that are unable to be resolved within the units' remits;
- Provide an oversight and governance role for critical business-as-usual Operations' issues.
In relation to Operations Reform:
- Provide strategic direction and governance oversight of the Operations Reform Program and its individual work streams;
- Ensure the plan and programs are structured for, and enabling, success;
- Monitor the plan and program risks;
- Monitor adherence to strategy, scope and plans;
- Manage the funding within the envelope agreed;
- Understand and monitor key dependencies;
- Monitor the benefits realisation and KPIs and ensure that the Program is structured to achieve the benefits;
- Recommend major decisions to the University Executive (UE), including any changes to high-level scope, timeframes or approach;
- Ensure effective integration and alignment between the component initiatives and assess the impact of other major programs across the University on the initiatives;
- Approve progress reports to University Executive;
- Provide quality assurance through review of the initiatives' performance reports;
- Actively advocate for the initiatives with all stakeholders.
A separate governance forum for the Operations Reform Program may be established at a later date to focus solely on the implementation of the broad range of Operations Reform projects being initiated in 2016.
