The Sydney University Women's War Auxiliary was formed in response to World War II. It allowed for women associated with the University to contribute to the war effort. The different sections were Knitting, Netting, Surgical Dressings, Voluntary Aid Detachment, and the Land Army. Prominent members included Doreen Dew (née Lawrance), Margaret Whitlam (née Dovey), Helen Turner, and Isobel Bennett.
