The fund was established at a meeting in the Law School on 10 July 1940. Its aim was to keep legal men and students in the Services in touch with the School and the legal professions, and act as a medium for the circulation of information of all kinds. benefits would extend to all legal personnel and articled clerks, not just graduates and undergraduates. The records of benefit recipients had to be submitted to the Law School.
Parcels were sent approximately each month and contained both food and books. Each person listed also received the 'Legal Digest' quarterly.
The records of the Fund are not extensive. No minute books appear to have survived, there is no official correspondence between Fund officials, and the formation and operation of the Fund was not reported in either the faculty of Law Minutes or the Minutes of the Senate.
