Senate on 2nd December 1929 approved the Constitution of the Sydney University Students' Representative Council.
The objects of the Council were to promote the interests and maintain the traditions of the University and of the Student Body. The Council represents the Student Body and conducts its affairs. The Student Body consisted of all students, matriculated or unmatriculated, who were duly enrolled for attendance at lectures. The Student Body comprised the four great Associations: the Undergraduates' Association, the Women Undergraduates' Association, the Evening Students' Association, and the Women Evening Students' Association. The Council was composed of representatives of each Association, together with a President chosen by those representatives, and such other persons as the Council may appoint to be ex officio members.
Mr J M Gosper was elected President of the inaugural Council.
