The Australian Mohair Research Foundation was established in 1972 and a Research Committee was formed the same year. The primary aim of the Foundation was to examine the feasibility and establishing an Angora goat industry within Australia and to encourage and to support research toward that end.
The Research Committee was responsible for the presentation of research projects to the Foundation and for the conduct of projects approved of, and financed by, the Foundation.
