From Australia's First: a History of the University of Sydney Vol 1 Preface xviii
Vice Chancellor Professor Bruce Williams supported the idea of a history of the University being researched and written and appointed a committee to supervise and allocate funds in 1974. Associate Prof. K.J.Cable was appointed Executive Officer named in 1975 Dr Ursula Bygott was employed as Research Assistant. It is believed this committee was called the University History Project. The first volume was published in 1991 - titled as above.
