Sydney University Nitrogen Fixation Centre

Founded as a new Centre within the University with input from the Faculty of Agriculture following consultation between the FAculty and the Australian National University, the University of Queensland, the University of WA, Murdoch University and, more particularly, CSIRO Division of Plant Industry and NSW Department of Agriculture.

Major objectives:

promote research and teaching into basic and applied aspects of nitrogen fixation and to seek to use the findings from such research to achieve practical applications that will benefit Australian agriculture and the environment.

To provide a resource centre for data and a collection of pure cultures of nitrogen fixing organisms.

Foster international collaboration in biological nitrogen fixation including the exchange of personnel.
