Faculty Council, Assembly and Staff [Guild Teachers College]

During the period 1974 to 1975, the staff of the College met to discuss matters concerning their employment duties and conditions, course programmes and student problems. On the suggestion of staff members, a faculty Council was constituted in 1976 and its first meeting was held on 3 February 1976. It was appointed to represent staff on academic, administrative, financial or other educational concerns to the College Council, the Principals Office, the Academic Board and the Students Representative Council. On 3 June 1977, a Faculty Constitution was adopted which stated its purpose was to provide the structure for internal government with respect to the affairs of the Faculty and to facilitate the exchange and flow of information and understanding between the Faculty, the Administration and the Colleges governing bodies. The government of the faculty was under that document vested in the Faculty Assembly, which apparently replaced the Faculty Council.
