Nepean Hall Council
Since 1959, the University Had provided limited accommodation for students at the Camden Farms. During 1964, additional accommodation was completed, so that the whole of Final Year Veterinary Science could be accommodated for the entire year, as well as some students from the Department of Animal Husbandry and the Faculty of Agriculture. In 1964, the Senate resolved that the accommodation for students at the Camden Farms be a Hall of Residence and be known as Nepean Hall.
The management of the Hall is vested in a Council appointed by the Senate consisting of:
(a) The Vice-Chancellor, the Assistant Principal and the Registrar, ex officio; (b) The Director of the Animal Husbandry Farms; (c) The Warden of the Hall; (d) Two representatives nominated by the Senate; (e) Two representatives of the students in occupation elected annually by the residents from among their numbers; (f) One representative co-opted by the aforesaid members of the Council. Associate Professor H. J. Geddes, the Director of the Animal Husbandry Farms, was appointed Warden of the Hall for the time being. [Calendar 1965 p. 354]
While Senate last appointed two members to Nepean Hall Council at its meeting on 1 May 2006, resolution 129/06, it seems that the Council last met around 2003 when the Veterinary teaching curriculum changed and the Hall was only opened for the second semester. [TRIM DOC2015/1228357]
In 2020 Nepean Hall was dormitory-style hall of residence consisting of single study bedrooms in a residential hall, with shared kitchen and bathroom facilities open to full-time students and staff. The Hall was self-catered, with residents responsible for preparing and cooking their own meals.
