Australia's First: a history of the University of Sydney Vol 2 1940-1990, p178"In 1976 a graduate Diploma in Museum Studies was established within the Faculty of Arts. It was a one year course available for graduates of any faculty. Opportunity was provided for students to specialize in curatorial work in a range of areas using, for practical purposes, the various collections and museums within the University" University Calendar 1976 By Laws Chapter X 30 p12130. There shall be a Diploma in Museum Studies (Dip.Museum Stud.) 31. (1)The award of the Diploma shall be supervised by a Board of Studies responsible to the Faculty of Arts and consisting of the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, the professor of Contempoary Art, the Curator of the Nicholson Museum, the Curator of the Power Gallery of Contempoaray Art, the Curator of the Macleay Museum, at least three persons appointed by the Faculty of Arts and such other persons as may be appointed by the Faculty of Arts on the recommendation of the aforesaid members.(2) Any person appointed under subsection (1) shall hold office for two years and shall be eligible for re-appointment.Name changes to Board of Museum Studies 1990
