From Hermes, May 1917, p49: Born at Bilston, Staffordshire. He came to Australia in 1879 and was employed in the country at Yalloroi Station, New England. In August 1881 he came the University of Sydney to work as a lecture assistant with Professor Liversidge in the Chemical Department.
From Liversidge guide: Hufton is described as a lecture attendant in Chemistry in the earliest and subsequent Salaries and Wages Registers in the University Archives. The registers commence in 1909; there appears to be no surviving record of Hufton's appointment. His name is not recorded in the registers after May 1917.
