Thomas Andrew Berry was born in Canly Vale, Sydney, on 30 December 1922. He went to school in Katoomba and to Sydney Boys High where he obtained his Leaving Certificate in November 1939. He studied engineering at Sydney University from 1940 to 1943 specialising in aeronautical engineering and graduated with a BE on 24/6/1944. Tom joined the RAAF in 1943. He became the first CO of the Sydney University Air Squadron, formed in 1950. Overall he spent 48 years in aviation. As per Ryerson Index a death notice was published for Thomas Andrew Berry, age 77, in the Sydney Morning Herald on 7 December 2000.
