Larsson, Yvonne Anne
Yvonne Anne Larsson received teacher training at Balmain Teacher College , 1954-55 where she completed the course with Distinction. She received her BA (4.5.1961) and MA (22.6.1974) from the University of Sydney. The topic of her Master's thesis was 'The Political Ideas of Arthur Bruce Smith. She received her PhD from the University of New South Wales, School of History (1981), thesis:The Triumph of Protection in Australia. Aspects of the Tariff Issue in Early Federal Politics.
Between 1962 and 1973 Yvonne Larsson worked as teacher employed by the NSW Department of Education, Thurrock Educational Authority Essex, England and the NSW Department of Education again. From 1973 to 1977 she was employed as Lecturer in Education, School of Education at the University of New South Wales.
In 1978 she accepted an appointment as Lecturer in Education Faculty of Arts at Sydney University. She was promoted to Senior Lecturer effective from 1 January 1983. From 1 January 1986 with the establishment of the Faculty of Education she became Senior Lecturer Teaching and Curriculum Studies in that faculty.
Larsson provided leadership in curriculum developments especially in History Education and later in Gifted and Talented Education in Australia and internationally.
She retired from the University effective 19 July 1993.
Yvonne Anne Larsson died on 10 April 2016 at age 79, at Kew Gardens UK, late of Vaucluse Sydney. [Death notice, Sydney Morning Herald, 23/04/2016]
