The Tin Sheds Gallery building was acquired from the CSIRO in 1968 for use by the Faculty of Architecture. The corrugated iron Art Workshops were built after the site which once had terrace housing and a timber yard, was cleared around the same time the Wentworth Building went up in 1972. In 2004 Tin Sheds moved its entire operation into the School of Architecture, Design and Planning with purpose-built workshops and a gallery.
