In 1956, Jessie Street, then living in London, returned to Sydney as a member of the Executive of the British Anti-Slavery Society to report on the situation of Aboriginal Australians. This folder contains a copy of her 30-page 'Report on Aborigines in Australia' prepared in May/June 1957. Her report provides general comments on Australian policy concerning Aborigines.

Topics include: government policy, employment, discrimination; visits by Street to various missions and reserves in Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory, including Kalgoorlie, Karrawang Mission, Pindan Co-operative, Derby (all Western Australia). A substantial part of the collected information relates to the Pindan Co-operative Camps: Two Mile Camp, Kadyereena, Condon Camp and Teasler.

The part of this paper relating to Pindan was published in Dawn, Vol 6, No 12, Dec 1957. Available online.
