Research for a Book on Australian Aboriginal People for Department of Territories, Canberra

These papers are from a folder labelled Department of Territories, Canberra. The Department commissioned AP Elkin to write a book on Australian Aboriginal peoples. The papers consist of correspondence with the Department and, in response to a questionnaire received from AP Elkin, of material received from the various relevant state departments covering all aspects of Aboriginal affairs. The papers are arranged by state and include bundles regarding the Department of Territories - Canberra, Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, and Missions. 

It is not obvious from these papers whether a publication was produced as intended.
