This material contains correspondence between AP Elkin, the Anti-Slavery and Aborigines Protection Society and Government. There is a typed copy of a 5 page letter on 'Land Trust for Native Races' by the Australian Sub-Committee of the Protection Society, dated 25 November 1936, outlining the Australian situation. The correspondence is dated from 23 March 1942 to 27 August 1942 dealing with the fact that Aboriginal wives might be compellable witnesses against their husbands under various State laws and the history of the E J Wilkins case. It also contains information on the percentage of Aboriginal people being educated in State and Mission schools.
