The Place of the Australian Aboriginal in the Evolution of Society: A Vindication of Lewis Morgan by ATH Jolly and FGG Rose

The item includes two letters from Dr Leonhard Adam dated June 8 and 27, 1944. Adam wrote the 19444 essay 'Has Aboriginal Art a Future?'. The letters are his opinion of FGG Rose's contribution to the conjoint paper with ATH Jolly.

There is 1 sheet of handwritten notes by Elkin with the letters. (On the reverse of the sheet is typed notes for 'Chapter IV. The Circumcision Regions. South Australia and the Neighbouring Region of Western Australia'. This is from Elkin's book Aboriginal men of high degree.)

There are 2 copies of the Jolly & Rose paper one is 86 pages long and the other is 110 pages long.

The Social Organisation content, and matrilineal types and descriptions in particular, of the title, relate to a large number of Language Groups including the following: Karajerri, Nyulnyul, Worora, Ungarinyin, Murngin, and the wider Australia.
