General description of the 1956 recordings ['Central and North-Central Australia' - Oceania, 1957]: 68A, 68B (cut i): Secret chanting by newly initiated young men 68B (cut ii): Secret chanting by women.

Description on disc, edited by Elkin: Side 1- 68A - ['6' crossed out and handwritten over with '8'] 'Secret Chanting by Young Men'; Side 2 - 67B (1) 'Secret Chanting by Young Men'; (11) 'Secret Chanting by Young Women'.

Audio disc 12" 33 1/3 RPM standard groove. Recorded by Mr Jacques Villeminot, 1956, at Areyonga, south-west of Alice Springs amongst the Pitjatjantjara Tribe, on a portable recorder, driven by small dry batteries, fairly good results. Pressing produced by Process Recording, Columbia Gramophone, Aust. Disc label states: Must not be publicly performed without express permission. [Start inside noted on both sides of disc].
