This is a field notebook relating to Elkin's Kimberley research. The content relates to the social organisation including kinship, totemism, genealogy, customs, language of the Bardi people of Sunday Island and other islands, the Kimberley, Western Australia. About 12 pages following page 150 consist of notes on what appears to be specific spirit matters, spirit figures, and childbirth; entries starting from the rear of the notebook (16 pages) refer to Forrest River mission, boomerangs, bullroarer and include descriptive notes and sketches on material culture/artefacts at Forrest River.
