20th Feb 2024 3:22PMSome further history of the Bank Building.

After the newly formed School of Chemistry (the old Departments of Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Physical Chemistry) moved to the present Chemistry Building in 1958 (?) the Bank Building housed the Sydney University Branch of the CBC. The CBC was later taken over by the Victoria-based NAB which opened a second branch in the Wentworth Building. When the SU Branch was closed most of the space in the Building was occupied by the Department of Pharmacy. The western side of the ground floor was the home of the Pharmacy Practice Foundation which raised the funding for a few extra Pharmacy professors. I don't know when the Post Office branch arrived, probably in 1958. The Wentworth NAB branch is now closed as well.
