Francis Badham Oliver enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) on 7 August 1914 and at a later date transferred to the 1st Australian Division of the 1st Field Company of Royal Engineers during World War I. The Division arrived in Gallipoli on 25 April 1915 and Francis remained there until 26 June 1915. This series consists of three diaries kept by Francis from 19 October 1914 to 4 July 1915. The second and third diaries cover the Gallipoli period and contain details about military activities on the peninsula.
