Fink was an anthropologist who worked with Ronald and Catherine Berndt at the University of Western Australia; then later at the University of Sydney. Her Australian research background was with the Wajarri of the Murchison region. The paper covers issues such as the disintegration of Aboriginal society since European settlement and the subordination of Aborigines to the status of a coloured minority.
